OPA appeals court decision about YMCA land
(Feb. 5, 2010) The Ocean Pines Association is appealing a judge’s decision in its case against the Mid- Delmarva Family YMCA.
In an appeal filed on Jan. 28, the OPA is disputing the decision of Judge Christian Kahl in Circuit Court in Snow Hill on Jan. 4 when he granted the YMCA’s motion to dismiss the case. Full Story
Donations to Haiti can be deducted from ’09 taxes
(Feb. 5, 2010) Taxpayers who donate to Haitian relief efforts this year may claim the deduction of their 2009 tax return. President Obama signed the new federal legislation into law.
Usually, donations made after Dec. 31 must be claimed on the following year’s tax return, but the legislation changes that for donations to Haitian relief efforts. Full Story

Local census office recruiting for 2010 head count in county
(Feb. 5, 2010) The U.S. Census Bureau will rely on thousands of temporary workers to help it complete the largest domestic undertaking in the nation as it prepares to count every person who lives the country.
Households will receive their 2010 questionnaires in the mail between March 15-17. The 2010 questionnaire has 10 questions and will take about 10 minutes to fill out. Full Story

OC bayscape mini-grants available
(Feb. 5, 2010) The town of Ocean City is once again offering mini-grants for the bayscape planting program. Similar to beach district mini-grants the town previously offered, the bayscape program offers native plant material to homeowners to build a “bayscape garden” on their property. Full Story
