Coastal Lacrosse Club spots remain
Registration for the 2010 Coastal Lacrosse Club’s spring season will conclude this month. In order to maintain a low player-to-coach ratio, the club is limiting the number of players per team and teams are formed on a first-come, first-serve basis. However, spots are still available for players who would like to register.
Practice is scheduled to begin the week of March 1, and the first day of competition is slated for March 21. Visit www.coastallacrosseclub. com for registration forms and information.
Last year, the Coastal Lacrosse Club experienced a successful inaugural season, fielding teams at every age level for boys and girls. The club also held numerous social events for players and parents.
The club will hold its 2nd Annual Coastal Lacrosse Pool Splash from 7:30-9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13, at the Ocean Pines Sports Core Indoor Pool. Snacks and drinks will be provided and Coastal apparel will be on sale. All Coastal Lacrosse players and their families are welcome.
Dolphins-Vikings game suspended
The Berlin Dolphins visited the New Castle County Football League’s Vikings in Bear, Del., last Saturday despite wintry conditions. The snow eventually caused the game to be suspended, however, when the score was tied at 6 in the fourth quarter.
After holding the Vikings on their initial possession, Berlin’s Collin Macomber went to work, completing a quick slant to Andrew Watson for 12 yards. On the next play, Macomber hit Tyler Boyle for 58 yards and a touchdown to take a 6-0 lead. On the Vikings’ next possession, after a 42-yard wide receiver reverse took it to the 1-yard line, the Vikings plunged in to score. A failed extra point left the score tied at 6-6.
After the second and third quarters, as well as increasing wintry conditions on field, the officials suspended the game at 6-6.
The Dolphins are scheduled to face the Raiders on Saturday at Caravel Academy in Bear.
The NCCFL is a winter league that consists of eight teams from around the area. For more information, contact Ron Birely at 410-641- 0948 or visit www.BerlinFootball.org.
