Odetta Perdue
SNOW HILL — Odetta Ellen Cropper Perdue, 79, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin. Born in Berlin, she was the daughter of the late Horace R. Cropper and Eva Morris Cropper. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, John Herbert Perdue.
Mrs. Perdue was previously employed by the Dulany/Green Grant/Pillsbury Co., where she had worked as an executive administrative assistant. She retired from the Lower Shore Private Industry Council, Inc., where she had been the executive director. Under her leadership, the agency was known as one of the top agencies in the state. She had served on many educational and human resource boards and committees in the tri-state area and also at the state level. She was a member of MARVA LUS Divas, and Red Hat Society 22632. She attended Friendship United Methodist Church in Berlin. Mrs. Perdue enjoyed cooking, crocheting, reading and gardening.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Sara L. Martin and her husband Bob; a grandson, Craig L. Martin; cousins, one niece, two nephews, one great niece, one great nephew, two great-great nieces and one great-great nephew. She was preceded in death by her sister, Florence C. Adkins in 1987, and her brother, John F. Cropper Sr. in 1990.
A funeral service was held Saturday, Jan. 30, at Whatcoat United Methodist Church in Snow Hill. Interment followed the service in Whatcoat Cemetery.
