Car accident

C. McCray C. McCray Three people were sent to the hospital following an Oct. 23 car crash in Berlin.

According to the Berlin Police Department, the accident occurred at Branch Street and Franklin Avenue at 5:43 p.m. Police said a vehicle driven by 55-year-old Regina Moore of Berlin ran a stop sign and struck another vehicle.

Moore and her 10-year-old female passenger were not wearing seatbelts, according to police, and they were taken to the hospital. The driver of the other vehicle was also taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure. None of the injuries were life threatening.

Stabbing

The Worcester County Sheriff's Office arrested a 67-year-old man Oct. 27 after he allegedly stabbed another man during a dispute in Ocean Pines.

Donald Lewis of Berlin was charged with first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, possession of a weapon with intent to injure, malicious destruction of property under $500, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, disorderly intoxication, driving under the influence, driving while impaired and other traffic violations.

Police said Lewis went to an Ocean Pines bar, confronted the victim about alleged car repair issues and then stabbed him in the belly, causing superficial wounds. Lewis then got into his car and almost hit a police car in the parking lot, police said. Lewis was held at the Worcester County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

DUI

A 19-year-old Pocomoke man was arrested by Berlin police Nov. 1 for allegedly driving drunk.

Ethan James Long was charged with driving under the influence and driving while intoxicated. Long was driving south on Route 113 in Berlin with six passengers, including two sitting in the rear bed of the pickup truck, according to police. Police stopped the truck because Long was driving recklessly. Long failed field sobriety tests and beer and liquor were confiscated from the truck, police said.

Warrant arrest

Ocean City police arrested a 24-year-old man Oct. 31 wanted on two outstanding warrants from other counties.

Christopher McCray of Washington, D.C., was arrested on outstanding warrants from Prince George's and St. Mary's counties.

Police stopped McCray's vehicle on Coastal Highway at 38th Street around 10:45 p.m. for a traffic violation. McCray gave police a fake name before the officers learned his true identity and that he was wanted elsewhere in the state. According to the police report, McCray was wanted in St. Mary's County for failing to appear in court and in Prince George's County on charges of firstdegree assault and armed robbery.

McCray was also issued traffic citations related to the Ocean City incident, including driving without a license and giving a false name to police. He was held at the Worcester County Jail on the warrants.

Child porn arrest

A West Virginia man accused of possessing child pornography was arrested in Ocean City Oct. 31. Roger Stotler, 45, of Martinsburg, W.Va., was held at the Worcester County Jail awaiting extradition to his home state. West Virginia State Police contacted the Ocean City Police Department regarding Stotler, who was wanted in that state on charges of possessing child pornography and sexual assault of a minor.

Ocean City police located Stotler's car near 112th Street and found Stotler walking on Coastal Highway in the same area.
