Decatur sports program wins Bayside South Conf. sportsmanship award
(Oct. 23, 2009) For the last eight years, a high school in the north and south regions of the Bayside Athletic Conference has received the Sportsmanship Award. In 2008, Stephen Decatur earned the award, which Principal Louis Taylor considers to be a considerable honor, for the first time. Full Story
Seahawks net six to shutout Mardela H.S.
(Oct. 23, 2009) Tuesday's 6-0 victory over Mardela was the first time in four games the Stephen Decatur boys' soccer team scored in regulation. The Seahawks topped Crisfield 1-0 Oct. 6 in overtime, the Oct. 7 game against Kent Island ended 0-0, the Berlin squad lost to Pocomoke 2-0 Oct. 9 and Decatur edged out Parkside 1-0 in double overtime last Tuesday. Seahawks take down Warriors
(Oct. 23, 2009) After a fourgame losing streak and playing the last three weeks on the road, the Stephen Decatur football team scored a 48-0 victory over the Easton Warriors on its home field in Berlin last Thursday. Delonte Tate had a career night, leading Decatur with five touchdowns. He carried the ball 21 times for a record 236 yards. Full Story
Girls confident, ready for post-season competition
(Oct. 23, 2009) The Stephen Decatur field hockey team has one regular-season game remaining before playoffs begin Oct. 27. The Lady Seahawks are scheduled for an away match Monday against the Washington Jaguars. The first round of the 3A South Regional tournament is set to begin Tuesday. Full Story
Mallards close in on undefeated season, eye ninth ESIAC title
(Oct. 23, 2009) The Worcester Prep boys' soccer team is one game away from accomplishing its goal of an undefeated season. The Mallards improved to 14-0 with a 6-0 victory over Delmarva Christian's Royals in the Eastern Shore Independent Athletic Conference semifinals Wednesday in Berlin. BANK RECOGNIZES WEEK 7 DECATUR MVP
The Bank of Ocean City sponsors the broadcast of the Stephen Decatur High School football games each week on WQMR 101.1 FM. Following each game, a most valuable player is chosen and the bank donates $50 to the Stephen Decatur High School Athletic Boosters in that player's name. The promotion will continue for 10 weeks and result in a $500 donation. Week 7's winner is three-time MVP, No. 44 Delonte Tate, who had five rushing touchdowns this week. LOCAL MARTIAL ARTS COMPETITORS WIN BIG
Members of the Eastern Shore Karate Academy in Berlin recently competed in the 8th Ocean City Classics National Karate Championships. The team finished with 12 national division titles. Members were scheduled to compete at the Karate World Championships. Full Story
RIVER RUN BENEFITS BERLIN HOSPITAL
A total of 86 runners and walkers participated in the 4th Annual River Run 5K Run/Walk, benefiting Atlantic General Hospital, in late September. River Run Development sponsored the event, which included a free Kiddie K. Brian Allen took first place in the men's overall category, with a time of 17 minutes, 39 seconds. Theresa Moody took first place for the women, with a time of 22 minutes, 29 seconds. Full Story

(Oct. 23, 2009) The Worcester Prep field hockey team was shut out by Holly Grove twice in regular season play. Wednesday's Eastern Shore Independent Athletic Conference semifinal match in Westover, Md. was a much closer battle, but Prep still came out on the losing end. Full Story

Victory advances ladies to conference competition for first time in three years

The 19th annual Swing For Youth Golf Open will be held at Eagles Landing on Saturday, Nov. 7, beginning at 8:15 a.m. Shotgun start at 10 a.m. The four-person Florida Scramble not only provides a great value and fun time, but most importantly, supports youth recreation in the Ocean City area. Golfers 'have a lot to be proud of,' coach says of performance this season
(Oct. 23, 2009) The five Stephen Decatur golfers who advanced to the 3A/4A state tournament struggled Monday on the challenging Potomac Ridge course in Waldorf and failed to get past the first round of competition. "Our team's biggest demise was putting," Coach Jim Krall said. Full Story
