Burglary suspect caught
Roger Weldon A 20-year-old Berlin man accused of committing three burglaries in Worcester County since 2005 was arrested by Ocean City police this week.
Roger Vincent Weldon was charged with one count of second-degree burglary and two counts of fourthdegree burglary.
A burglary at the Plim Plaza Hotel pool bar Oct. 1 was captured on surveillance video and led police to Weldon as a suspect. Police obtained a search warrant for his Ocean City residence and reportedly found evidence that linked Weldon to three burglaries.
Police found 13 license plates in Weldon's residence that were reported stolen from Assateague Island in August 2005. Other items found allegedly tied Weldon to the Plim Plaza burglary and a third burglary at Jolly Roger Amusement Park, police said.
Police said the investigation is continuing to identify additional suspects and further charges are pending. Weldon was released after posting a $25,000 bond.
Assault with knife
Ocean Pines police arrested a West Ocean City man on assault charges Oct. 2.
Michael Alan Cooper, 24, was charged with first-degree assault. Police said he allegedly used a knife.
Cooper was released pending trial, scheduled for Nov. 13 in Snow Hill District Court.
Multiple auto thefts
A 20-year-old Berlin man was arrested twice in two weeks on automobile theft charges stemming from separate incidents, according to the Ocean Pines Police Department.
Ashsalom Johnson was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and motor vehicle theft.
The first incident occurred Oct. 1 and involved the unauthorized use of a vehicle from a private residence. A 17-year-old was also charged in this case.
The second incident on Oct. 13 involved the alleged theft of a motorcycle. Richard Lee Huffman, 20, of Berlin, was charged with motor vehicle theft in this case.
Del. burglary suspect found
Ocean City police arrested a woman suspected of multiple burglaries in Fenwick Island, Del., after she was arrested on drunken driving charges in Ocean City Oct. 16.
Katheryne Lenora Niquette Hart, 26, of Fruitland, first came into contact with Ocean City police when a resort restaurant reported that three people were leaving without paying their bill. Police stopped Hart's car nearby and arrested her for drunken driving.
While searching Hart's car after her arrest, police reportedly found three flatscreen televisions in the truck that had been reported stolen during three burglaries in Fenwick Island. Officers from Ocean City and Fenwick Island are coordinating on the burglary investigations.
Drug arrests
Ocean City police arrested two men Oct. 17 after finding suspected drugs in their apartment.
Timothy Daniel Day, 49, and Paul Christopher Day, 52, both of Ocean City, were charged with possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
The Ocean City Police Department's Quick Response Team entered the Days' apartment on Jamestown Road on a warrant around 7 a.m. A search by officers found suspected drugs in both men's bedrooms.
According to the police report, two small plastic bags of suspected marijuana and two smoking devices were found in Timothy Day's room and two small plastic bags of suspected marijuana, two smoking devices and a grinder were found in Paul Day's room.
