Burglary

J. Cherone J. Cherone Ocean Pines police arrested a 43-yearold Salisbury man June 24 in connection with three burglaries that took place in

the Pines in May and June. Joseph Glenn Cherone was charged with three counts each of first-, third- and fourth-degree burglary, theft over $500, conspiracy to commit burglary in the first degree, conspiracy to commit burglary

in the fourth degree and conspiracy to commit theft over $500.

Police said five homes in the Pines were burglarized during a three-week period from late May through mid June. The investigation is continuing, and police said Cherone could face additional charges.

Cherone was held at the Worcester County Jail on a $500,000 bond.

Infant injured

An Ocean Pines man was arrested after a 6-month-old child received head injuries during a physical altercation June 27, according to the Maryland State Police.

Adrian David Manuel, 25, was charged with two counts of second-degree assault and one count of reckless endangerment.

According to the police report, Manuel argued with and assaulted the mother of his child at the Pin Oak Apartments in Berlin. Police said the woman received minor injuries because of the altercation.

M. Williams M. Williams The woman was holding a 6-month-old infant during the altercation, and police said the child was dropped on the concrete and received a head injury during the assault. The child was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury for treatment.

Manuel was held at the Worcester County Jail in default of a $7,500 bond.

Assault

The Maryland State Police arrested a Baltimore man June 25 after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and another roommate.

Nicholas Ryan Reynolds, 22, was charged with two counts of second-degree assault and one count each of disorderly conduct and malicious destruction of property over $500.

Police went to the Delmarva Trailer Park in West Ocean City, where they said Reynolds had allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and another roommate. He was held at the Worcester County Jail on a $10,000 bond that was reduced to $5,000.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested for breaking into multiple vehicles by Ocean City police June 23.

Police said the teen from Newark, Del., is linked with as many as seven vehicle break-ins that occurred at the inlet parking lot that evening.

At 8:30 p.m., a citizen alerted police that someone was breaking into cars at the parking lot. Officers arrived and saw the teen getting out of a parked car, and a large amount of personal property was found in his possession.

Police also found more stolen items in the teen's vehicle.

The teen was charged with multiple counts of theft, felony theft scheme and fourth-degree burglary.

Burglary

Three Ocean Pines teens were arrested for allegedly breaking into a home, the Ocean Pines Police Department reported.

Police said a 16-year-old boy, a 15-yearold boy and a 14-year-old girl were caught in the middle of the burglary by the homeowner. The homeowner reportedly knew one of the suspects.

Police recovered all the money taken in the burglary. The three youths were referred to the Department of Juvenile Justice.

Drugs

A 21-year-old woman was arrested by Ocean Pines police June 24 when she was found with drugs.

Jennifer L. Helms of Dagsboro, Del., was charged with possession of marijuana.

Helms was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for a traffic violation, and suspected marijuana was in her possession, police said.

Drug busts

Undercover Ocean City police officers nabbed two teens selling drugs last weekend after they sold the drugs to the officers, police said.

A 16-year-old and a 15-year-old were both charged with distribution of marijuana. Police said the 16-year-old was in possession of 20 grams of suspected marijuana and $161, while the younger teen was in possession of 4 grams of suspected marijuana and $249. Counterfeit money

Ocean City police arrested a man who allegedly tried to spend fake money at a resort nightclub June 29.

Michael Lavend Williams Jr., 29, of Crofton, Md., was charged with possessing forged currency, counterfeiting currency and theft under $100. Police were called to the Seacrets nightclub after employees suspected the $100 bill Williams was

trying to spend was fake. Police found 22 fake $100 bills in his possession, all with the same serial number.

According to police, Williams washed $5 bills and made them look like $100 bills. The bills were known to be counterfeit because of an erroneous watermark and the words "USA Five" on the security strips. The bill was also discolored, police said.

The OCPD alerted the United States Secret Service of the arrest. That agency oversees efforts to eradicate counterfeit currency nationwide.
