Six sickened by carbon monoxide at OC hotel
Investigators blame faulty heater in pool for deadly gas leak at Boardwalk hotel
(June 12, 2009) Six people were taken to the hospital and an Ocean City hotel and condominium building was evacuated for four hours last Thursday when a gas leak was detected in the building. At approximately 9:40 p.m., Ocean City's communications center received a call that there were six sick people in a hotel room at the El Capitan on the Boardwalk at Fourth Street. Full Story

Commissioners to Corps: cease bay dredging like everyone else

Wright sentenced to 25 years in prison for probation violation
(June 12, 2009) Fourteen years ago on Monday, Krista Ruggles, a 16-yearold Pennsylvania girl, met 25-year-old Jermaine Wright of Salisbury at an under-age club in downtown Ocean City. Within hours, she was dead. Wright was convicted in 2001 and sentenced in a binding agreement to 30 years in prison with half that time suspended. Full Story

In early June, the governors of Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, New Jersey and New York signed an agreement on ocean conservation and created the Mid-Atlantic Regional Council on the Ocean. New scam sends letters and check, asks for financial information
(June 19, 2009) The Worcester County Sheriff's Office this week warned the public of a current scam that is disguised as a business improvement program.
