Weekend festival combines talented artists with serene setting
ART'S ALIVE!
(June 19, 2009) More than 100 artists are scheduled to show their work in a variety of media around the lagoon at Northside Park this weekend during the ninth annual Art's Alive festival. WANGEL WINS NATIONAL ESSAY CONTEST
Michelle Wangel of Berlin, a student at Worcester Prep, center, was a winner in the 2009 National Society of Colonial Dames American essay competition. She received a certificate, check and an invitation to attend an expense-paid, weeklong session of the Washington Workshops Congressional Seminar in Washington, D.C. Her essay, in which she answered, "Over the course of history, which American leader has provided the greatest visionary leadership?" was judged locally, regionally and nationally along with entries from all over the United States. Freeman presents concert series

Kara Brower, a graduate of Stephen Decatur High School, is congratulated by Diana Badros for earning the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore's Joseph Z. Badros scholarship for 2009.
