Violation of probation

A 32-year-old Berlin woman was arrested March 28 on active warrants for violations of her probation.

Jennifer Adams was arrested by the Berlin Police Department at her residence.

Wanted person found

The Berlin Police Department arrested a 43-year-old man on an arrest warrant March 27.

Michael Channell of Berlin was arrested on a warrant for charges of second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and malicious destruction of property over $500.

Channell was located in the driveway of his West Street home. He was released after posting a $10,000 bond.

Domestic Assault

A 57-year-old Ocean Pines man was arrested March 27, after he hit his girlfriend, Maryland State Police said.

John Anthony Rinkus was charged with second-degree assault.

Police were called to a home on St. Martins Parkway in Ocean Pines, where reports said Rinkus allegedly hit his girlfriend in the face.

He was released after posting a $20,000 bond.

DUI arrests

The Ocean Pines Police Department made the following arrests for driving under the influence:

Alex William Hagemeyer, 25, of Ocean Pines, arrested March 15.

Ryan Neil Riley, 28, of Fruitland, arrested March 22.

Margaret Bowman Kahl, 46, of Ocean Pines, arrested March 22.

Assault

A 27-year-old College Park man was arrested by Ocean City police March 29, after he allegedly pushed a woman in a nightclub parking lot.

David Devaney Brantley was charged with second-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

Security staff at the nightclub asked Brantley to leave the property, according to the police report. Brantley walked around the parking lot before getting into the rear seat of a parked vehicle.

Shortly after, a woman told police she was in her car waiting for her friends when Brantley got inside. She did not know him, and asked him to get out of her car, and he got upset and pushed her, she said.

Assault

The Ocean City Police Department arrested a 46-year-old resort man March 27 after a police officer saw him choking a woman.

James Daniel Marx was charged with second degree assault.

A woman told police Marx was assaulting her mother. Outside of the victim's apartment police could hear screaming and when an officer looked in the window he saw Marx covering the victim's mouth with one hand and choking her with the other, according to the police report.

Drugs found

An Ocean Pines man arrested on two warrants received additional drug possession charges from the Ocean City Police Department on March 27.

Leroy Poole was charged with possession of cocaine and also faced two outstanding warrants from the Worcester County Sheriff's Office.

Police received information that Poole was in a resort nightclub and the officers escorted him outside and arrested him.

When police were searching him, Poole allegedly tried to hide an item in his hand. According to the police report, that item was a small plastic bag of suspected cocaine.

Assault and theft

A 49-year-old man was arrested by Ocean City police March 26 after he failed to pay for a taxi ride and assaulted the woman he was riding with.

Ricky Anderson Edwards of Reisterstown, Md., was charged with theft under $100, second-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

The taxi driver told police he drove Edwards and a woman from a bar to their hotel, but the pair could not find their ATM card to pay the fare. The driver then drove them back to the bar to look for it, and when it was not found Edwards allegedly got angry with the woman and slapped her.

Threat

Ocean City police arrested a 19-year-old man March 28 after he threatened another man who reported a crime to police.

Gary Wayne Schisler Jr., of Taneytown, Md., was charged with second-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

Police were investigating an incident on the Boardwalk where trash cans and benches were damaged. A witness helped identify the perpetrator.

Right after the witness left, the police officers heard a call for help and they saw Schisler speaking to the witness. According to the police report, Schisler said the man threatened him because he was a "snitch" and shoved him.
