Smith Island Cake Co. to open in WOC
The Original Smith Island Cake Company plans to open a gourmet dessert and coffee café in the Ocean City Factory Outlets in early spring.
Specializing in the nine-layer Smith Island Cake, designated as Maryland's official state dessert in October 2008, the new store will offer slices of cake, whole cakes and gourmet designer cupcakes in specialty flavors such as pumpkin, raspberry, chocolate cheesecake and the "American as Apple Pie" cake. The café will also specialize in wedding and birthday cakes.
Also available will be fair trade organic coffee in "Smith Island" blend, as well as a variety of coffees, lattes, cappuccinos, espressos and specialty iced coffee drinks.

Radio show offers financial answers

Ortman recognized
Carl Ortman, Ph.D., Real Estate Broker at Re/Max Premier Properties and Grand Bay Properties, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of real estate.
With 35 years of professional experience, five of which have been in his current position, Ortman is responsible for managing the purchase and sale of commercial and residential properties and teaching real estate agents the continuing education credits necessary to maintain their licensure status.
