Sink holes
Jane Kreiter, director of the Water and Wastewater departments, said excessive rain had caused sinkholes, including one at the intersection of Broad and West streets into which a car had fallen last Thursday. The car had to be pulled from the hole, which was about 2 feet deep. Full Story

West Ocean City fire
A March 3 fire destroyed a West Ocean City townhouse and damaged adjacent homes, the Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office reported.
The fire was reported around 6:40 p.m. by a neighbor who saw smoke and heard popping noises coming from the home. There was heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of the building on Sunset Avenue. Full Story
Dept. heads slash budgets to cope with economy
(March 12, 2010) A new financial system is part of the reason the Worcester County Commissioners’ budget work session on Tuesday finished nearly four hours ahead of schedule.

Police dept. seeking volunteers to serve as reserve officers
(March 12, 2010) The Ocean City Police Department is seeking volunteers to train and become reserve officers for the upcoming March 20 training class.

Mobile vans making H1N1 flu vaccine available in Worcester

Bikes, trams will not share boards
(March 12, 2010) A conflict between bicycles and the Boardwalk tram sharing the boards led the Ocean City Council to alter the new bicycle hours for the Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends.
The council recently changed the bicycle hours for the Boardwalk to allow bikes until 11 a.m. seven days a week. This saw a one-hour increase on the weekends from last year’s hours. Full Story

Robin Drive shoreline
The city received nine bids for the Robin Drive shoreline project to build a soft shoreline to replace a failing bulkhead. The city estimated that portion of the project would cost around $28,000, with the entire project costing $351,000.
